Happy 18th Birthday Maasa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Usually I forget about Hello! Project member's birthdays. Even my most favourite members. But when someone on H!O said "Happy Birthday" as a comment on the picboard on Maasa's picture, I immediately went to Hellproject and checked the sideline birthdays. And whaddaya know? It was tomorrow! Well, it was already her birthday when it was tomorrow and it already passed but not here!...If you get what I'm saying. I can't believe I actually forgot. I mean, I knew it was in July, but I thought it was the 15th. I'm sorry, Maasa! Well, I remembered how old you were turning and did 18 exclamation marks!

Honestly, I don't really remember how Maasa caught my eye. It was a little after I started watching C-ute videos that I moved on to Berryz Koubou. In one day, I watched all of their pvs in chronological order, which ended with "Dakishimete Dakishimete". After that, I started watching and listening to more Berryz Koubou videos and music. I noticed that there was a girl that was always, with exceptions like "Anata Nashi de wa Ikite Yukenai" and a center (for a little while) in "Seishun Bus Guide" and "Watashi no Mirai no Danna-Sama", not getting enough camera time and lines. Obviously, that was Maasa. And I mostly go for the least popular members in a group to give them more love...Well, I did like Justin Timberlake in NSYNC but that's like one time...Possibly more. Soon, this "opportunity to give more love to a less popular member" turned to "actual fan-crazed love and support". I watched more clips, interviews, making ofs etc. and always noticed Maasa where ever she was, like in a performance - where a most memorable performance was where Maasa sang the most lines in "Kokuhaku Funsui no Hiroba" in their 2009 Autumn Tour - or in the background - certainly most memorable is "Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda" making of. Ooooh Maasa! And Momo!.

Seriously, this girl has tons of talent and gifts to offer the world. Although she isn't the best singer in Berryz Koubou like Miyabi, I still like it. Whenever she changes notes, I notice that it rarely sounds smooth but sort of noticeable and, for lack of a better term, choppy. But I somehow am obsessed with it. Like in the new Berryz Koubou single, the way she sings "Shinee" like "Shine-e" if you get what I'm saying.
Also to note of is her dancing. I think Saki is by far the best dancer of Berryz, and many other fans would agree, but Maasa, along with Momo, is a very good dancer. I think Miyabi is also a good dancer, but she could use more energy to have a better performance level. This is something that Maasa has that makes her dancing fun to watch. I know that there's at least one time where she over-exaggerates her dance moves, but the smile on her face makes me forgive her. She knows what mood to give for the dance, whether it's "Jiriri Kiteru" or "MADAYADE", and gives all that she has to give to stand out in her own way.
More recently, fans have taken notice of her guitar playing. Although she is still quite a beginner, I feel that she will truly take off in guitar playing. I remember reading a comment of Maasa and saying how she will be the next Mano Erina except playing a guitar. That would be really awesome! But if you DO do that, please stay in Berryz at the same time, too.
Her looks is something else that is noteworthy. When I was starting to learn the names of all the members, I was looking at the "Dakishimete Dakishimete" promo pics on the official Hello! Project website. I was trying to find a notable characteristic that was different from all the rest. The characteristic for Maasa was her plump, red lips. XD I have to laugh at that now, but it's true. Along with her lips, there's also her big, round eyes and her awesome body. I have to admit that in her early years she was a little bigger than everybody, at first in height (soon surpassed by Yurina) then in a wide aspect, probably noticed by most people in "MADAYADE". But she showed that you should love your body by her attitude in concerts, pvs, making ofs etc. A lot of people could look up to her when they think about their bodies, me included. Nowadays, though, she's lost some weight and showed it off in her first photobook, which she looked fabulous in. But whatever body she has, she shows that she can work it, love it and be confident in it.
Lastly, I had to end her traits with her personality. As I said before, she has major confidence at all times. Confidence also has to do with positiviy, which she also has. I don't remember a time where she felt down. Of course, maybe that time was off camera but that doesn't really count. Also, this girl is so funny! One of the more funny times was when she spoke english. Can't forget about that! And one of the more funny pictures is of her in that unibrow with Chii. Gosh, that unibrow. And when they had to draw a picture of the tiger for New Year's, she just wrote the kanji for tiger (Or at least I'm pretty sure she did). And that other time in the "Dschingis Khan" making of when she dance hilariously. And right now I just watched her photobook making of when she tried to say "Carwash". And I think another time she scared Chinami in a concert when she hid behind a corner and popped out and Chii screamed and Maasa laughed. Or that was either Yurina. Well, the list of awesome funnyness could go on and on.

This is one special and talented girl who needs to be noticed more for her many gifts that she has to offer the world...Or at most, people who know about Hello! Project. From her looks to her personality, this girl just keeps on getting better and better. And with her new movie coming out, she can finally stand out and get some well deserved and wanted attention. I remember reading that she wanted to pursue a career in acting, so this is her chance to demonstrate it. But before she does that, I will keep on supporting her activities in Hello! Project and rooting for her. So, here's to another wonderful year of laughs, joys, and Maasa!
HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY, MAASA!
